Hadith 120
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو كِنَانَةَ، عَنِ الأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ: إِنَّ مِنَ إِجْلاَلِ اللهِ إِكْرَامَ ذِي الشَّيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ، غَيْرِ الْغَالِي فِيهِ، وَلاَ الْجَافِي عَنْهُ، وَإِكْرَامَ ذِي السُّلْطَانِ الْمُقْسِطِ.
“It is a form of glorifying Allah to honour the grey-haired Muslim, the one who carries the Qur’an, the one who is neither excessive in his recitation nor neglects it, and the one who honour the just ruler.”
